This includes waste from private households and/or commercial kitchens and entities, expired or spoiled food from supermarkets, as well as waste or defective products from the food industry.
Organic Waste Treatment is still not very common in the waste management business and often still dumped in landfills. There, its uncontrolled fermentation process produces the greenhouse gas methane, which 20 times more harmful to the atmosphere than CO2.
However, in many countries the implementation of such plants is being promoted and driven forward, not only to reduce harmful greenhouse emissions, but also to use this unrecognized, valuable raw material to generate sustainable, green energy and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
The recovery of valuable raw materials from the mixed household waste is already widespread, yet a large proportion of those still disappear inside landfills. The owners and management of VIA Solutions have many years of experience in the construction of sorting plants, but in recent years have specialized primarily in the conversion of the so-called residual fraction into alternative fuels (Refuse Derived Fuel) for the cement industry.
Instable landfills are not only a threat to the environment, atmosphere and ground water, but also a health hazard to human and animals living in the surrounding area. Therefore, instable landfills need to be treated and made stabile again.
Depending on the condition, location and owner’s requirement those landfills can be either capped or mined. VIA Solutions has the practical experience of both.
After mining a former landfill can be re-used for new developments like property or infrastructure. Having the practical experience of mining more than 20 Mio m³ landfill volume all over the world makes VIA Solutions GmbH the preferred partner for the realization of such projects.
